Our Social Side
Right, this is the fun part! Ladies Hockey will ensure plenty of chances for you to make new friends and basically have a bloody good time. We meet as a club for weekly socials, known as ‘circle’, to play games, sing songs, dress up and catch up on the latest filth! More about circles later, here’s what else we have to offer:
TOURS
Ladies Hockey go on 2 annual tours, one at the end of Term 1 with the delightful Hockey boys and a second during the Easter break; this one is by ourselves, by this point we’ve had enough of the boy’s shameful banter and embarrassing attempts at charm. Our girly tour takes us abroad to play some hockey against other Uni’s or local teams. Past tours have seen us grace the pitches, cities and bars of Rimini, Salou and Amsterdam. But what goes on tour…stays on tour.
BALLS
Every year, there are two dates for your social diary which are an absolute must! These are the Hockey Ball and The Sports Fed Ball. Both provide a chance to ditch the jeans and instead dress up nice and glam for an evening of drinking, dining, dancing and the awards ceremony. In 2008 we were awarded CLUB OF THE YEAR, and we will not forget it! The Hockey Ball is spent with the Men’s Club and Mixed Hockey, whereas the Sports Fed Ball is an opportunity for all sports teams to party under one roof.
MEALS
There are several team and club meals each year, which usually take place in Leamington and are followed by a quick visit to one of the local drinking holes. These provide a great opportunity for team bonding and socialising outside the Warwick ‘bubble’.
